Stewardship is A Way of Life!
A steward is someone who has been entrusted with something of value on
behalf of someone else. As Christians, we are called to joyful generosity
in all that God has given to us for the good of all.
Good Stewards have an "Attitude of Gratitude!"
"People do not light a lamp and then put it under a
bushel basket. They set it on a stand where it gives light to all in
the house. In the same way, your light must shine before all so that
they may see goodness in your acts and give praise to your heavenly
Father." (Mark 5:14-16)
God has given us the principle of stewardship in order to help us
conquer the sins of selfishness and covetousness. We are to give
cheerfully and bountifully (2 Cor. 9:6-7). Our time, our talents, and
our material possessions are just some of the treasures we have been
given by our very generous God. Sharing these gifts involves
being with God in prayer and worship, using our gifts to become
ministers of the Gospel and help build God's reign of peace and
love among our family, our friends, our churches and communities.
Building Community
The Bible teaches that we are already members “one with the
other” because of our spiritual union with Jesus Christ. As
members of the Christian community, we are called to bear one
another's burdens, rejoice together, and share responsibility for the
welfare of our church community. Christ called us into the fellowship
of his church to be his witnesses. The joy of church membership is
experienced at its greatest when we share our blessings with others.
Community fosters spiritual growth through mutual encouragement and
accountability. If you are seeking a spiritual home, we hope you will
consider joining us at St. James!
