Kitchen and bathroom cabinets that have been purchased from major production outlets ship boxed. They tend not to be cut like someone was chewing their way out, like some washer, dryer and water heater boxes are, as the heavy appliances are maneuvered out of their boxes and into place. Keeping an eye out on a tract or two of new houses is key to discovering box days.
No one was allowed to wash their car in their driveway, or water their lawn either. Because of this he was busy as heck, and he couldn't get all the work done. Plus, they're were noise ordinances in Santa Barbara and the landscapers could not use the air blowers in the city in residential neighborhoods, nor were they allowed to start before nine o'clock in the morning. He knew he couldn't make noise, and he had to run all of those pieces of equipment at the same time, the vacuum was the only real problem at that point.
You do not have to have a compressor, some people prefer to use a CO2 bottle, but that seems somewhat expensive. Some of the discount tool companies (like Harbor Freight) stock inexpensive compressors. Probably the most import thing to a good finish is good surface preparation. In other words a good clean. Smooth surface. As I have gotten older I have developed a tendency to prime the surface and after that dries well to sand it with very fine grit paper. Try 3200, 2500, in that range.
Purchase a simple multi-tester or multi-meter for less than ten dollars and perform the following test. With the car off, leave the headlights on for about 2-3 minutes. Set an alarm so you do not drain the battery, and turn the headlights off when it goes off. This will remove any surface charge. Set the multi-tester dial so it registers in the 20 Volt DC range. You can read the multi-tester instructions or research its use online. A multi-tester is very simple to use. Touch the red lead to the positive battery terminal, and the black one to the negative. A healthy, fully charged battery should read around 12.5-12.8 Volts. This will vary with temperature (lower temperatures mean lower voltage), but should never be below 12 Volts. Another optional suggestion is to touch the black multi-tester lead to your engine or a metal part of the vehicle. If the voltage is substantially lower you may have a bad cable connection.
Additional features of this unit include a 12v DC output socket complete with an overload protection system, a charging level and battery condition indicator all contained in a 14 inch x 13 in box which weighs only 16 Lbs. The booster pack will operate a small lamp for several hours without dimming. The booster pack has a light on the front of the case to provide illumination to your work area as you complete your task.
Oh it must be more than a couple decades now, but I can remember dealing with an independent contractor in my auto detailing business in Santa Barbara. He told me that he bought a very quiet generator, a Honda model, top of the line. He told me that he wanted one powerful enough to run a 5-hp vacuum, his buffers, lights, and a 1500 psi, 2.5 gallon per minute pressure washer all at the same time. I asked him why.
